Look, friends, there’s really no delicate way to explain this game or put a bow on it, so we’re just going to come out and call this one exactly like it is: Swapmeat, an in-development co-op third-person shooter roguelike from developer One More Game, puts players on distant worlds to take down aliens and then use their meat in combat. Seriously.
“You’re a Meat Scientist for Rangus Meats, a multi-galactic corporation dedicated to discovering the ultimate sustainable meat product to feed the universe… at least that’s what you think… Attach a wide swath of strange (and usually squishy) heads, legs and torsos to your Meat Scientist suit, gaining powerful abilities to change up your playstyle on the fly.”
Gameplay in Swapmeat focuses on players landing on increasingly difficult planets to harvest meat for their personal benefit and the benefit of their in-game employer, swapping out body parts mid-fight, taking down massive raid-tier bosses, and upgrading their characters and parts every time they make it back to the mothership for some roguelike progression. Gameplay can be either solo or with up to three others and promises “a totally normal story.”
Players can get their next taste of Swapmeat in an upcoming “super size playtest” that’s scheduled to run between December 10th and 16th, which will be open to previous testers and new signups. Interested potential meat scientists can either sign up on the official site or request access on its Steam page.
