It turns out that Pearl Abyss wasn’t quite finished with the huge Black Desert rollouts, even after a 2019 that saw the PC game come to PS4, Xbox One, and mobile. Today, the South Korean MMORPG studio announced that crossplay is coming to the console versions of the game.
To be clear, that means crossplay between PS4 and Xbox One, not between console and PC or mobile. As MMO players (and readers of our Desert Oasis column) will already know, the PC version here in the west is several years ahead in content of console, but the two console versions have been leapfrogging each other to keep up, causing many grumbles from both playerbases. With crossplay – and parity – those grumbles should go away.
The rollout is set for March 4th, so you’ve not got long to wait, though it’s not entirely clear how the servers and naming situations will sort themselves out yet, so we’ll keep you posted as we learn more. There’s a brief new trailer down below!
