Massively Overpowered: Let’s start with the obvious question. Do you really eat over ten thousand spiders every single day?

Spiders Georg: Oh, no, that’s certainly not true. I will admit that I am indeed a statistical outlier and do eat more spiders every day than the average person, but truth be told most days I eat perhaps four thousand spiders, maybe a little bit less. If I have a particularly large set of spiders to eat in my cave –

Can you please stop eating while you’re doing this interview?

I’m not.

There are literally spiders falling out of your mouth while you talk.

Yes, that’s where they live. See, I was just about to get to where that silly myth came from. Tell me, have you ever just picked up a big handful of spiders and put them in your mouth?

Have fun getting that image out of your nightmares, What Are You Playing readers! This column is a delightful repository of useful contributions to the culture of the human race.

Everyone wants to talk about me eating spiders but no one ever wants to talk about the part where I drink an unusual amount of motor oil flavored with mushrooms.

Bonus question: What was your favorite Halloween costume from when you were young? (We’ll say that’s topping out around age 10, just for standardization purposes.)

Andrew Ross (@dengarsw): Exercise games as usual, but also Splatoon 3 for some challenges and Pokemon Violet in light pursuit of maybe catching them in the current DLC.

Honestly, I can’t remember any great costumes from this period. We were not well-to-do. No joke, I remember cutting up brown paper bags and taping them together for a dinosaur costume (crayons nor markers really changed the color, and my “Batman” costume was just a blue baseball cap and black flower print “cape.” The problem was we moved to a more well-to-do community, so my costumes really looked shoddy compared to everyone else’s store-bought costumes. It was a major downer. To end on a higher note (though it’s over the cusp), when I was 11 or 12, I did manage to do a decent Tusken raider with a store-bought mask and a ton of potato sacks I cut into strips and a poncho. It took forever to put on, and was super itchy, but at least everyone finally got my costume, even if some of the kids were over the holiday at that point.

Andy McAdams: After galavanting through Faerun for a while, and the wonderful but very deep, engaging story, I wanted to be a murderhobo for a while. Since my gaming friends had recently resubbed to World of Warcraft… well, you can guess where I’m at right now. But I am looking longingly at Guild Wars 2, The Elder Scrolls Online, and Lord of the Rings Online. Right now though, I’m fluttering around with Evoker being utterly confused about where the hell I am in the story line because there’s no clear sequencing.

Bonus Question: I wasn’t allowed to go trick-or-treating after like age nine, and I don’t remember anything that I dressed up as at all.

Brianna Royce (@nbrianna, blog): I’m still in Lord of the Rings Online. I’m pushing my Hunter through Dale now, which is all-new stuff for me. I also picked up River Hobbits finally, but I still haven’t actually rolled one.

Princess Leia of course. I did most of her movie costumes, but definitely Bespin Leia is best Leia.

Chris Neal (@wolfyseyes, blog): I’m basically waiting for Patch 6.5 of Final Fantasy XIV to drop but that’s not a terribly interesting reply, so instead I’ll point out how I’m also still wrestling with what class to play in Black Desert, looking forward to more Void Crew with family, and planning some occasional dips into Wayfinder. Yeah, that seems more interesting.

My house was really not excited for Halloween growing up. I’ll not elaborate more than that, but suffice to say, I don’t bear a lot of childhood memories about the holiday.

Eliot Lefebvre (@Eliot_Lefebvre, blog): I’m sorry, I have to do a minor chore on Saturday so I plan to spend my entire weekend being ruined by that.

In all seriousness, I have a game to review that’ll be taking a chunk of my weekend time, some final bits of FFXIV patch prep to wrap up, and I do have a couple single-player games I’m tooling around on alongside it. So that’s enough, yeah.

My favorite costume is one of my earliest ones: In first grade, I was a pterodactyl. Not a specific kind, to be fair (I was too little to get that) but I had wings and a crest and everything. It made me happy.

Mia DeSanzo (@neschria): I will be back in EverQuest II this weekend. It’s one of the ways I connect with one of my kids who lives 4 hours away. Also, I need to take screenshots.

I won a prize in 5th grade for “most creative costume.” I was outer space. I put a sheet I had decorated with stars and planets over a hoop skirt petticoat I wore around my neck. I had one arm sticking out where it tied in the back. One must be able to carry the plastic pumpkin pail for trick-or-treating, of course.

Sam Kash (@thesamkash): I’m still stomping through Harry Potter Magic Awakened. The latest update added a couple new companion cards or at least one with another inbound soon. I’ve completed a lot of the seasonal events so I’m hoping to put a little time into the exam week challenges and hopefully catch up on the story quests.

Bonus: My favorite was definitely William Wallace from Braveheart. I had the hair and the face paint, kilt, the works. I even won the town Costume Contest for my age division. It was epic. I remember older kids telling me I looked awesome. It was the best.

Tyler Edwards (blog): I have a playtest for my latest game design project on Saturday. Otherwise I’m a little rudderless while I await Rise of the Angry Earth. I was playing through some GW2 story on my own (I usually only play with a friend), but to be honest it’s not that fun without my friend to banter with. I might do some farming in New World to prepare for the expansion, but there’s not much that I really need to do there, so I don’t know.

Bonus question: I always picked bizarre, obscure costume ideas that no one recognized and which put my parents through no end of trouble to create. I think it was from a bit past the age cut-off (like age twelve or so), but a noteworthy one was the year I went as a Night Elf demon hunter from Warcraft III. The face paint looked terrible, but my father made some pretty awesome warglaives out of cardboard and old coat-hangers, and I managed to find a blindfold that looked opaque from the outside but which I could still see through.
