Following last night’s unfortunate leak of Grand Theft Auto VI‘s promised video debut, Rockstar came out this week to officially confirm that it is bringing the next major game in the franchise to the world in 2025.
The crime sim looks to return to Florida-inspired Vice City in the hopes of making “the biggest, most immersive evolution” of the series. The first trailer showed off the game’s dual protagonists and a lot of crazy events happening around the town, including alligators getting into all sorts of places they shouldn’t.
While Rockstar announced that GTA6 is coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, it confirmed that it won’t be on previous consoles. More dismaying for PC fans, a computer version wasn’t mentioned in the press released, nor were any details about an expected multiplayer mode. Traditionally, GTA titles release for console first and then PC whenever the devs, y’know, get around to it.
It’s also unclear what multiplayer in this new version of the game will look like; according to Reuters, the “potential online multiplayer version” is expected to be revealed next year.
It’s bizarre to consider that it’s been 10 years since the last numbered title in the series, Grand Theft Auto V, was released along with Grand Theft Auto Online in 2013.
