V Rising teases Dracula, new difficulty modes, and its Castlevania DLC ahead of the May launch

V Rising is barreling along toward its May 8th launch and 1.0 update with a new landing page that outlines what players can expect – including Dracula. I mean, who else, really. It’s a vampire survivalbox.

“Dracula has been biding his time and gathering his power in the depths of the Shadow Realm. His servants flood the land, gathering blood to fuel his return, but Vardoran can only have one apex predator! Ride into Mortium, strike into the heart of Dracula’s castle, pierce the Shadow Realm, and cut down history’s greatest tyrant to claim ultimate supremacy!”

The lander also teases the Ruins of Mortium endgame zone, upgrades to existing zones, the new cargo travelers on their tempting trade routes, improved visuals, new difficulty modes, new baddies, the updated magic system, tons of new gear, the new achievement system, and the ability to move your castle. None of it’s a shock if you’ve been following the game’s development through early access, but it’s all in one place now – and a pretty big overhaul.

In other V Rising news, the game’s handlers continue to tout the the inbound Castlevania crossover DLC. “Legendary vampire hunter Simon Belmont will crash in to burn a path through Vardoran, bringing with him the knowledge of the brand new weapon, the whip,” the team writes. “This exciting cross-over event is open to all Vampires, but for those looking to truly grasp the Castlevania Vampire fantasy, we’ve got you covered with something extra.” That something extra is an additional paid premium pack, of course, with Alucard’s armor, shapeshifting variants, hair, a mount, music, and a ton of housing deco. It’s launching alongside the game on May 8th for $20.

“As an additional and important note, you are NOT required to have purchased the Legacy of Castlevania Premium Pack to fight Simon Belmont or acquire the Whip weapon type in the update,” Stunlock stresses. “These will be available for all Vampires!”
