Final Fantasy XIV launches the Moonfire Faire, recounts its EU fan gatherings, celebrates cats

Final Fantasy XIV’s latest expansion was already about what a summer vacation would look like for the Warrior of Light, but today brings a more literal interpretation of summer vacation as promised, as today marks the annual Moonfire Faire’s return.

Players who are eager to get their mitts on bomb monster-shaped tabletop balloons and a stonking big Namazu-faced fan are directed to the Aftcastle of Limsa Lominsa to talk to an NPC and begin this year’s seasonal quest. The summery good times will run between now and August 26th, which should give fans plenty of time to practice how to pronounce “uchiwasshoi” correctly.

In other FFXIV news, Square has put together a fun blog that reminisces about the fan gatherings that occurred in Germany, the UK, and France, and the studio is making sure players are aware that cats are awesome with a nod to International Cat Day. Unless you’re allergic to cats, of course, in which case, the MMORPG’s digital cats are also awesome.
