Mortal Online 2 adds ranked duels, spider mounts, and the ability to surrender in latest patch

The newest content patch for Mortal Online 2 is once again a bit of a melange, adding the ability to ride spiders, engage in ranked duels, and surrender to hostile players. Clearly, this one has something for the whole family to love.

Ranked dueling is pretty much what it reads on the tin: the ability for players to engage in ranked duels with a new radial menu and climb the eight ranks that are in the MMORPG. The feature also has a UI element for players to keep track of their ranking and other related stats, and duel winners will now be declared when a fight hits mercy mode instead of directly upon opponent death.

Tangential to the game’s PvP feature set is the ability for threatened players to hit a surrender skill. This will open that character up to having their inventory inspected by hostile players, which developer Star Vault reasons will let players “negotiate a deal […] or to show them you have nothing worth killing you over.” Because we all know that PKers are wellsprings of fair play and morality.

Other features of the update include a list of new clade gifts to the mastery tree; some tweaks to combat, magic, and pets; server optimizations; and last but certainly not least, the ability to use one of four different spiders as a mount, which can traverse significantly steeper surfaces than other mounts or players can. So there’s even a mechanical benefit beyond being able to make others feel icky.
