Sure, we’ve had first check-in on a fledgling early access survivalbox, but what about second check-in? Yes, we are once more marking the development track for the pirate-themed multiplayer title Windrose, but that’s because the game seems to be having a moment right now. Also it’s our job.
The devs at Kraken Express have been quick to thank its burgeoning playerbase for a total of 1M copies sold and 500K players total in its first 48 hours of online life. Overall, the past weekend brought an all-time peak of 222,134 on Steam, with 127,892 in-game as of this Monday morning. Not too shabby, to say the least.
Of course as we remarked before, this has also introduced multiplayer and online connection issues, which have been the focus of the game’s most recent fixer-upper patch, which now has manual connectivity server selection options and direct IP connection functionality. There is also an automatic save backup, all of which read like stopgap solutions until more in-depth fixes are in place.
In spite of the admittedly rocky initial early release, Steam user reviews are still quite effusive in general, so ideally the thread of patience is made of thicker stuff than most multiplayer game releases. Time will of course tell, but as we said before, this one’s clearly having a moment right now.
Thank you! The boar sends its two-tusked regards.
Jokes aside, your support has been incredible, and your patience while we work on fixes means the world to us.
Moreover, Windrose surpassed 200,000 concurrent players on Steam!
