The Daily Grind: What anticipated MMO completely let you down the first time you logged into it?

Lot of oh no, but maybe that's to be expected.

It’s a lot of fun getting hyped up for an upcoming MMORPG, following it through the development process, watching all of the videos, and reading all of the articles about it. But there’s really no substitute for experiencing it for oneself, because almost right away, you can tell if this title is for you or not.

And while some games have met my expectations, others had such promise and immediately let me down when I finally got to try them out. Early access titles such as Book of Travels and Equinox Homecoming had me excited with their potential, but when I got into them, I could tell that they weren’t going to satisfy me (or at least, not at this stage in development).

Have you ever had that happen? Did you ever greatly anticipate an MMO and then lose all of your excitement the second you actually got to play it?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
