The stuff after the credits is awesome.

But with this game, on try #28, there should be a pile of 27 previous “vessels” filling in that one failed jump that you can just waltz right over.

Cool, and there was me thinking the Crow thing was just a GoT cash in haha.

Samizdat That was the gist of one of the Halloween (then permanent) PvP matches for Champions Online.  You have to hold out against waves of zombies, when you die you join the zombies in killing the survivors.  Has been in that game for must be nearly 5+ years now.

Sounds interesting, can’t wait to hear more and see how they flesh it all out. Still don’t think they will be able to make huge battles happen with Unity though, we will see.

There are some cool ideas in there, and I’d like to see it fleshed out with the various General, Archetype, and Promotion Class skill trees.

My concern is that I think you’re either loading up the General pool with all the crafting and basic combat that would be cross-class, which would make General training very bottlenecked, or you’d have so many useful vessel skills spread across the various classes such that VIP accounts would have a bigger advantage than expected.
Overall really like the concept, but it seems like a big change that needs a fleshed out series of systems with it

TheZebes “Maybe” without permaloss or loss of progress, the loss of your vessel sounds seriously intense for instance.

Definitely out there, but I like it quite a bit.  Neat also to see system decisions like this fit well into the story (or perhaps vice versa).

anatheod  I suppose you could draw correlations between vessles and clones. Although you could do the same with vessles and ships., depending on how you look at it.

I hope there are crow cosmetic options. I want to pimp my corvid.

The end gave me the giggles.

Ah, so one game then. And one that is very different in most other respects. I don’t see a problem. Certainly not as if it’s an overdone mechanic.

That’s the kind of decisions this genre needs to move forward.
I’m looking at you, Shroud of the Avatar. Pathfinder, Black Desert and all other “revolutionary” MMOs currently in the making..

As far as I can tell, that would be a unique mechanic. I’m not aware of any MMO where, when you die, your body becomes an NPC and starts attacking allies. Do correct me if I’m wrong.

Permadeath without permaloss or loss of progress.

I am unaware of Eve and its mechanics but i am pretty sure they have something similar. Still, i prefer seeing this in a high fantasy enviroment.

They mentioned prior to the reveal that it was a mechanic used in a few sci-fi games but not in fantasy. Also the execution will be a little different than in something like EVE.

This is why i backed this game. Hey, it may end up being a complete disaster, but heck they are willing to try new things in a genre that is stagnated and filled to the brim with WoW clones. Also Vessel crafting? Which game allows you to craft playable characters?

That’s really just putting new labels on existing mechanics.

It’s always interesting to see what systems are dreamed up in MMOs to explain away the fact that your character can die 27 times in a jumping puzzle – and still be able to come right back for try #28 – without ruining any sort of immersion.  This one seems more robust than most.  I like the way it ties character advancement back to the account level.

Really looking forward to this system. I love having lots of build variety in PvP, and this has almost a sort of deckbuilding feel to it (swapping between archetypes).
Firefall has a similar system where you can swap between any battleframe on the same character without switching between alts or losing your inventory. Always thought it was super convenient and unique.
