Final Fantasy XIV opens the gates to Eureka with patch 4.25

The forbidden land of Eureka doesn’t care if you’ve reached Level 70 across the board. It cares about your elemental level, and you’re going to be working that up by fighting things and leveling up in this forbidden land. That’s the centerpiece of the latest addition to Final Fantasy XIV, giving players a new side of content to explore to unlock new weapons and armor. The patch also includes new quests in the ongoing Hildibrand side story, so you can use that as a breather between ventures into a forbidden land.

Players can also look forward to this year’s Hatching-tide event, which will be starting up on March 20th and offer a new wall decoration and new minion. So even if you’re not feeling up to an in-depth exploration of a dangerous landscape, you’ll have plenty of other things to take on. Most of those other new things don’t upgrade your gear, of course, but that’s the nature of the beast.

Massive disappointment for the FFXIV community. I was really hoping that Eureka would turn this game around.

17 months, delay after delay this was the best we got as quality when other content has been cut.

I mean GW2 can come up with entire new zones full of puzzles, events, bosses, story, challenges in a few months. FFXIV releases a new area and its simply camping and farming mobs in 17 months.

Sub canceled! See you next expansion FFXIV!

I find it more astounding that you actually thought a single piece of content would turn the game around for you.

Is it that astounding? Because many games have had this happen that improved the game with a single piece of content. Plains of Edolon for Warframe, Battle Royale for Fortnite….I mean if Archeage simply removed the P2W people would flock back to it…RIFT is already having a turn around with their Prime servers…

Apples to oranges. FFXIV isn’t adding a whole different type of game or anything like that. It’s just content added between major patches to try and tide people over until the next major patch. That’s it.

Pretty disappointed in how sloppily Eureka has been implemented, and I’m not even talking about its conceptual design.

The zone has a max player cap, and yet they chose to make it high enough that party members phasing out like in crowded hunts/fates is still a problem and didn’t bother to try and fix that issue which has plagued the game since ARR either.

I had seen people complaining about this in groups throughout the day, but in my last party, my tank was untargetable for me, and I was the healer. That’s ridiculous. And of course, leaving and rezoning put me an entirely different instance.

An inane grind that gets disemboweled by the community on day one, and instantly forgotten for the next “this time it’s certain, SE will give us good content just wait an pay your sub“?

That’s FFXIV alright.

Nah, it’s actually pretty terrible. Like “worse than original atma grind” bad.

Only because people are taking the wrong approach to it and are griping about it on initial impressions.

Mhm. Basically, if you’re hopping into a full group and pulling a bunch of enemies within 1-2 levels of you and AOEing them down, you’re doing it wrong.

Best XP comes from taking your group and killing enemies 3-6 levels above you one at a time, but mention that to anyone on the subreddit and you just get downvoted and told “it’s shit” by people that clearly didn’t read your post.

Yeah it’s very much emulating FFXI which is awesome IMO, and I think as people learn how to better do it things’ll be less complained about… maybe.

Solo players are still going to whine because they’re trying to stubbornly solo their way through something meant to be done with groups. But yeah, I honestly like that they did something like this. The rewards aren’t even really THAT worthwhile when you think about it, so it’s just another option if you don’t want to do Mendacity grinds.

I actually like the idea, what I don’t like is that they were too lazy to design it around the server/client limitations that have existed since ARR launched.

And that’s wherein the problem lies. Conceptually, Eureka is already very polarizing, but even for those who enjoy it, it’s not even implemented very well.

And frankly, that seems to be a trend with Stormblood–complacency and low effort. It really just seems like the devs are phoning it in for SB’s post expansion content.

No, it’s not.

Oh shoot did the new content release today? For some reason I thought it was on the 18th… which I now realize is a Sunday.

Welp my memory is bad, time to hop back into XIV amidst everything else I’m juggling.

So far so good. I like that the FATES give lootboxes and a heafty mount of xp. Already up to level 4 and got 33 of the things for relic already.

NOTE: make sure you have your augmented(level 70 job gear) gear and if not you can re buy it from the salvage calamity dude. This will be your relic armour and wep. So far you need 400(eureka currency) to upgrade the wep and so far only 50 for gear.

Other than that, dont go in solo, at least dont go in solo and try to kill anything higher than your level, i.e. dont be level 4 and try to solo a level 6, you’ll die.

All in all, im having fun and thats all i could ask for.
