Elder Scrolls Online releases update 6 trailer

Elder Scrolls Online’s huge update 6 patch went live last night, but the celebration begins today. ZeniMax has released a new video exploring all of the update’s major features, but it’s the new justice system that imbues online Tamriel with that classic Elder Scrolls ambiance and has recaptured MMO players’ attention.

Quipped a player tweeting as Shank last night, “Picked a pocket. Got caught. Didn’t pay bounty. Panicked. Ran for my life. Killed by a wolf in the chase. Justice system 10/10.”

The new video and some fresh wallpapers are below; let us know if you’re playing! We might just be bringing back our old Elder Scrolls Online column next week…

RooWoods Valkyriez That was no cashshop… it was ONE diffrent edition. I don’t understand why people have to mix this up… on the other hand, even some of the staff here think this was a cashshop. So its like always: you are just as good informed, as your sources are

A digital upgrade to Imperial Edition isn’t exactly a cash shop IMO. If it’s more ten that I’ve never seen it as there is no advertising for it, as it should be.

Wow, sounds great!  I can’t wait for March 17th…except for the “overloaded megaserver” thing.  It’s going to be just like launch day again.  ;)

Valkyriez But ESO has had a cash shop since it was released didnt you know that ?  . There has been one there ever since you started playing it .

Also Elder Scrolls is going buy to play not free to play . You will find there is a lot less nickel and diming in a buy to play game and there is also an optional subscription which will give you points to spend on either cosmetic items or downloadable content patches .

The only difference you will probably really notice in a buy to play mmo is that there are going to be a hell of a lot more people to play with and probably a lot more frequent new content because that is how a buy to play game makes it money . Like a single player game which offers DLCs it will only ask you to pay for what is developed Not the promise of what is in development and it certainly wont charge you a fee to access something you have already paid a box price for .

It is by far the best payment model .

I can certainly understand your point on that.
As a matter of fact I know exactly how you feel on that subject, thanks to STO.
As a big Star Trek Fan, I have played the game on and off since Beta, and have seen how STO has gone from sub based, to F2P to being all about monetizing anything and everything while at the same time diminishing content by making it a grind and reducing rewards from gameplay so people will buy XP boosters and the likes.
Not to mention all the buttons all over the place directing you to the cash shop to try and get you to buy more stuff there.

So I’m with you all the way in regards to the cash shop thing, but if they can do it without running the gameplay/immersion or turning it into P2W then it might not be so bad and we might not even notice the difference.
Another thing to keep in mind is they don’t go completely F2P, but rather B2P, so they still get money from sales of the game, which should hopefully help reduce the cash shop impact on the game.

It could also be that they don’t have any choice if they want to keep the game going.
It could be that if they keep going with the subs, they might lose enough players that its not worth keeping the game running, and we don’t want that to happen either.

I see your point of view but to me, ESO was kne of the last and only good game that was sub only. No frills, no cash shop, no nickel and diming, it was all just there for the sub fee. I’ve watched 3 games I’ve been heavily invested in go free to play. It brings more players, that’s true.
I just want a zero cash shop exists experience sometimes.

Why is that a shame?
Dropping the sub is likely to get more players to come in, and people who quit due to the subs to come back.
I would think that is a good thing, and healthy for the game.
Personally I have considered playing again several times, but the sub kept me from it as In don’t always have time to play.
I didn’t want to end up paying for a month, only to just play for a week.

I will be doing the same.
Quit playing before the free month was up, as there was too many bugs that blocked progress.
Now that its had some time to get fixes and updated I’m looking forward to see what has changed.
Sounds like there is plenty of new stuff to explore.

Indeed they did! You’ll have to check it out, nothing to lose after the 17th. I’ve only had a chance to play my staff character since the update but everything looks and feels more connected to the world. The lighting and effects also look better than ever.
