Hearthstone’s Blackrock Mountain opens for business

13
Blackrock Mountain, the second solo adventure pack for Hearthstone, is now live in the game. Well, we should say that the first wing is live, as the studio will gradually open up new portions of the game in coming weeks. The adventure draws from classic World of Warcraft dungeons, including Molten Core.

Players can use in-game gold to buy individual wings at 700 gold a pop. Alternatively, the five wings are available separately or in various bundles for real-world dollars. In typical Blizzard fashion, the studio has crafted a cinematic trailer to celebrate the new release. You can watch it after the jump!

bodoka Well the benefit of Hearthstone being a digital game over a physical one is that Blizzard can fix those issues…

Give it some more months-1 year and new players have to invest 100+ bucks to not get beaten 10 times in a row. Power creep cards, games decided at mulligan, broken cards/game design, total lack of balance.

Don’t give Blizzard any more business until they start fixing WOD.

A Dad Supreme Bit of an exaggeration about Blackrock Mountain. Only 4 of the 31 new cards have any randomness whatsoever, and of those I would say only one, Nefarian, has any significant random effect – “Battlecry: Add 2 random spells to your hand (from your opponent’s class)”

Finished normal mode in about 40 minutes before work (I hate deleting an old deck to do these!) and it was fun enough. Looking forward to the class challenges etc after work (because sneaking off to a dark corner of the office to play HS is when I would have to admit to having an addiction, and I don’t, I swear!)

stiqy ColdinT ClayRoss If you actually go into the adventure area, then into the Blackrock Adventure, you’ll get the individual wing unlock price when you try to access it.

ColdinT ClayRoss I am not seeing the gold option… just the $24 for the whole pack option…

ClayRoss Nope. Kind of a bummer, but guess they figure they’ll get more out of people, which is probably true.
Hate the 700 gold cost though. Seems pretty excessive.

I liked this game ever since launch, but slowly the RNG frustration of it all has crept up and accumulated over time.
Looking at the new cards available for just completing the lairs with all the potential RNG and OPness in them, not counting the Legendary ones that will be available with the packs, I think I’d better just part with this game now and save my sanity.
Excellent game but that RNG… hellish.
