Warhammer 40,000: Eternal Crusade puts the fifth Chaos Space Marine legion to a vote

This guy is decked out in armor. THAT is a talent, even.

Do you have strong feelings about the Chaos Space Marines in Warhammer 40,000: Eternal Crusade? If you’re a fan, you probably do, seeing as how the entire Warhammer universe is full of strong feelings. But if your strong feelings are more of the “I want to play those guys” variety rather than the “cleanse and burn” variety, you’ll want to take part in the current poll about the fifth playable faction of these corrupted defenders.

Each of the different groups has a different bent. Red Corsairs serve as a pirate fleet, harassing Imperial shipping lanes with their cruisers. Alpha Legion was secretive even before it moved to the side of Chaos, and its current operates involve planting deep-cover agents and insidiously corrupting. Last but not least, the Crimson Slaughter wants nothing more than to wipe out worlds and spread Warp-tainted atrocity. If you’re a backer, check out your options and make your decision.

blast tyrant alexjwillis It kind of annoys me that for the Imperium that they would allow Dark Angels and Space Wolves, who are as different to vanilla Ultramarines as the Thousand Sons are to the Black Legion. So I don’t really understand the logic of the choice.

alexjwillis Probably do the same thing that Dawn of War did, use the Undivided Legion as the “faction” choice and use the cult squads (Berzerkers, Thousand Sons, Plague Marines, Noise Marines, etc) as specialist to represent the God–specific Legions.  Also +1 Thousand Sons.  All is Dust.

I kinda just assumed the Thousand Son were going to be in the game.

ArchDevi Honestly, they should stop making the game super lore heavy and just make the different factions just be different player skins.

The only Chaos Marines I want to play as are Noise Marines. Death Metal Death Squads of Chaos!

I do have to agree that if you make a game with such a vast universe and lore that they should at least try to stick to it.

All in all, i’m hoping this will come out and be a decent game, always like the concept of WH40K as it’s part of the nice Sci-fi mixed with mythical figures, gods and orcs.

Are they deliberately choosing Chaos Undivided Legions so they can use God-specific Legions (Death Guard, World Eaters, etc) for expansions? I dunno. Word Bearers are pretty awesome (as the ultimate Undivided Legion) but Black Legion, Iron Warriors are pretty vanilla. Night Lords are just arseholes in power armor.

But yeah this poll is kind of a straw-man setup. Alpha Legion is the only clear choice.

If it were up to me? The Thousand Sons. Because a properly done Chaos Sorceror would be awesome.

believe it or not, the titular character (Ventris) will make you kind-of like the ultramarines. He can think for himself, doesnt abid by the codex fanatically like the rest of his brethen, and shows he has flaws. It isnt anything like your average mary sue ultramarine. he’s like Titus from the space marine game

Plus you get to see the most awesome Chaos badass ever, Honsou.

btw,Dead Sky Black Sun is the third novel from the series, I fully recommend you to get the Omnibus so you can read them in order.

ArchDevi Koshelkin Nreff Omg no Ultramarines. The Ultramarine focused novels in Horus Heresy are my least favourite. Such a bland and boring Legion. I still might check out the novel you suggested, tho.
