HEX celebrates its second birthday

You get to celebrate these in betas now, apparently.
A lot has changed for HEX since the game first went to Kickstarter a few years ago. The anniversary letter to the community touches on precisely that, noting that when the game launched to potential backers, it was with far less knowledge about what would be a design hurdle and what wouldn’t. But the letter is an optimistic one; the devs boast how far the game has come since that Kickstarter launch with still more features to be rolled out over the next year.

As to those new features, the anniversary announcement discusses new starter decks designed to make starting fresh more pleasant and 60 new champions that are coming to the game for use in Constructed and Draft formats. There’s also a short anniversary comic for those invested in the game — another little way to thank players for sticking around as the game grows and develops.

Two years and still no sign of any of the cool stuff promised in the Kickstarter. This is the one game I’ve backed that I genuinely regret. Great ambition but they just don’t seem to have the capability to deliver at anything except the most glacial pace.

This IP lawyer guy has some good write ups on the details in plain language – http://www.cardboardconnection.com/news/law-cards-cryptozoic-rants-wizards-coast

It’s kinda ha my and its almost becoming a mantra with me lately but dailies get people in. The obsessive nature of knowing you get something for doing pretty much what you would do anyway is an overwhelming force.

GoJammit it’s a tricky situation. On the one hand you have people willing to play complex card games who are convinced that it’s just some silly MTG clone and on the other hand you have people who expect Hearthstone…  the gap inbetween those two extremes seems to be very, very narrow.

At this point only finishing the game and running a marketing campaign will do anything to change the situation I feel.

But do expect a large resurgence of players when the expansion hits.

KingoZZie well technically the best way of getting cards is playing the frost ring arena. a lot, then selling all the good equipment and PvE cards you get to veterans and using the plat to play drafts ^^

If you ever need a cheap and cheerful deck for the arena, may I shamelessly self promote and direct you here:

I just wish the Auction House played a lesser part in the game. Seems like that’s by far the best way to get cards.

GoJammit Moondancerbb They added an arena fight but nothing like what was promised. The Ai is still very rudimentary too.
