Give me more variety in my quests, I always say. That is why I’m delighted when designers utilize elements such as, say, music in missions. The Secret World has had a few of these over the course of its strange journey, although none so prominent as last Christmas’ Saint Nicholas adventure.
In perhaps a nod to The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, players pick up a flute and have to master simple songs to use as tools in order to progress through an underground vault. It was both tricky to figure out and satisfying to master when I did, even though I looked like some sort of deranged Pied Piper in the process.
