Sword Coast Legends shows off an hour of campaign creation

Don't be a dick, be a dude.

One of the big draws of Sword Coast Legends is that you aren’t just limited to playing through the game that other people come up with – you can get in there and have an active dungeon run by another person. That person might even be you. And if you plan on making your hapless friends run through your corridors and have an hour to kill, you might want to watch the video down below because it’s all about the fine art of crafting and running a campaign.

Yes, it’s an hour long, and no, it doesn’t go into the fine details of how to tweak every option, but it does provide you with a solid overview of the sort of dungeons you can make with the game’s tools. If that sentence alone gets you thinking, jump on down and watch.

Love the idea behind this, but I am not a fan of the top down 3D style for actual play. It’s probably the best way for designing the campaigns though. It would give DMs a lot of control over multiple rooms during live play.  I would prefer a more first person or something like GW2 third person perspective for actual gameplay, it would visually feel more plausible world.

I watched an 8-minute video the other day, and I have to say, I’m very excited about this one. I hope it’s as good as it seems to be.

I will wait to pick this up until it gets released on GOG.

Yeah, if the 5-pack still exists post launch, that would likely be the route I’d go outside of a sale… And if it doesn’t, well, buying pre-launch just isn’t on the table at so big an investment.

Definitely need to take the time to watch this when I get home. The game overall won’t be “day one purchase” material to me, as it’s a steam title, and has to flesh out its class options to be fully useful, but I’m sure I’ll be picking up and gifting the hell out of this game eventually… Another reason to wait for the inevitable flash sale way down the road hehe.
