Star Citizen’s FPS devs confront merge conflicts

107

Star Citizen published its weekly Star Marine update earlier this morning. Cloud Imperium says that it didn’t add or test new features this week because it was dealing with the broken builds that resulted from “merge conflicts” which happened when the team began combining “multiple game development streams.”

As per usual, the weekly update is sub-divided into sections so that you easily read about whatever interests you most, including gameplay, audio, UI, art, and animation considerations.

anedopolous Ding!  88M$ and growing, +940.000 backers. It looks like people do not agree with your assumptions.
At the same time, latest same “game” iteration of the Man We Do Not Name is capping at less than 10 guys in 30 days.  An MMO according to its creator, in development since 5 years :)   A free MMO!
Result of all that buzz is that people try to deinstalled it before even bother thinking about downloading it :)  After they compared it with  SC Sociale module (Alpha) and Multi Demo gamescom 2015.

dsmart3000ad Vikingr Liraven This is not a huge issue. Itr is at best a normal disturbance.  And even less massive time sink.  AAA thakes at least 5 years.  They are doing extremely well and it shows.

dsmart3000ad Liraven Vikingr Can you please give update why you change Steam information letter for your last game?  Did you talked about delay? …Don’t you said in 2012 to answer a question about your game : Do you think gamers would be willing to give your game a shot? Probably not and I don’t really care. (!)

So far, it is now 2015 (after 5 years of dev) under anticipated access, in clear, not finished. At the question, when it will be ready?  “It’s ready when it’s ready. Right now it ain’t ready. Then you change yours Steam comments by switching release date  from beginning of 2015 to mid-late 2015…  does it sound familiar?

And the funiest of all:
Quote:  Of course, this being game development, delays can and most likely will
happen. However, we’ll keep you informed every step of the way. Besides,
with regular updates, you probably won’t even care when the final
version is released since you will be part of the on-going development
process and thus have access to our builds.
How can you stand in front of us whith such attitude?

Estranged CR is not a chicken of the year.  He did worked in difficult conditions in the past and the big difference is that now, you have internet and robust tools that help a lot game creation and team communication.  Give us a company which never go through merge conflicts.  Current situation is by no mean a stop but an opportunity to make code even more robust for modules releases planned this year.

About faith: Faith is taking the first step even when you don’t see the whole staircase
CR proved already we can trust him, despite some other famous dev we know already where will bring us after the first step.

dsmart3000ad outlive_developer … And your are such a genius, explaining since years others what to do or not do while your “production” is at the opposite of your own words.
You said you spent 20M$ for your last game.  How many players have paid to cover that?  Less than 200K download on Steam (Free version). Even if we take 100K  players x 60$  that give 6M$… and there are less player in your MMO during the last 30 days than in 1 instance of Social alpha module (cap to 24 for now)?  It is clear why you hate CR since years.
Try to launch a Kickstarter poject.  We will see how much you gather in 45 days.

People do see and “touch” what they paid for.  They see SC growing weeks after weeks.  You can argue ad nauseum it is late, go to court if you are not happy.

dsmart3000ad Samizdat Sure and why not going back home and start to finish the “MMO” released half a year ago and populated by 10 at best?
I just spend another half an hour in Social module which is the very frist iteration of it.  This  is exactly what I was expecting from CR in terms of contents and immersion.
And just because every month bring new contents and patch (yes this is in Alpha), you know what, I bought a Vanguard Sentinel.   318$ to support the game while I will never ever spend 1 cent on your “game”.  I make this mistake once… Battlecruiser V14… still unfinished after 20 years.  Really shame on you.
Still a few weeks before the countdown DS… tic tac tic tac.   Unleash your horde of 5000 hungry guys from your super secret list.  :)  The most fun is that you went so far this time that you can’t reverse back and let your letter die. Because CIG obviously is not going to answer.

well, my reply to Gibs was honest and constructive when I said I’m after trolls here. Your reply to me isn’t constructive. In fact, it’s flame bait and that is trolling.

No one gives a damn with who or what YOU agree Smart, your hilarious double
standards and complete ignorance regarding your own level of epic fail
just show how pitiful all your efforts are. Your initials DS obviously
stand for double standard, I get it, so when is your trainwreck Line of
Defense finished, it was due in January 2015 and why are are you shadow
editing your game FAQ?

When will Valve kick your abomination of a product off the
platform which is an insult to Valve and every gamer? I heard lots of people are reporting it on the Steam Storepage for defects and for
misleading description, what do you say, Smartboy? Who will protect gamers from your deranged, comical products and write a blog about YOU ?
