BlizzCon is starting up later today, but a couple of leaks are already making the rounds. World of Warcraft players poking around the structure of the Battle.net site allegedly uncovered a background image revealing a launch date for Legion on or before September 21st, 2016, which would give fans eagerly anticipating the next release a date to look toward at least.
The image itself is no longer acccessible on the game’s site, which could mean that it’s a hoax or it could mean that someone caught the goof. Players who pre-order are also promised access to Demon Hunters ahead of launch. With the opening ceremonies of the convention a few hours away, we’ll likely learn more once Blizzard says a few official words on the subject.

What happened to lower gaps between expansions and the final patch? A whole year with nothing new, and they wonder why subs are going down the toilet.
They are dropping subs rapidly, and this news isn’t going to help. Â Not only that, but Blizzard isn’t going to release sub numbers anymore. Â The game is finally dying, even though it took 10 years.
Midgetsnowman johnmynard No, but FFXIV team does have the bumbling idiotic bureaucracy that brought us the FFXIII trilogy over their heads, and yet YoshiP still finds a way to get massive content patches out every 3-4 months, while launching an expac 22months after launching the main game, which also included a switch to a new rendering API (DX11).
As far as delivering content for a sub game, IMO FFXIV sets the bar for that in modern times.
The image also included the standard edition price of $49.99. Yeah, right. Like I’m going to pay more money for less content, yet again.
dorn2 Greaterdivinity  Didn’t they just mass hire a bunch of developers for WoW in the last year or so?
dorn2 Skyewauker breetoplay yeah, they’re down to 5 million now. If it’s going to be almost another year with no content then I imagine that number will fall.
Madda I assume they are ripping enough money out of people’s wallet’s with hearthstone that they’ll be ok.
They will not survive if the expansion takes that long to come out. I’m calling that right now.
Please, someone who still plays and pays regularly. What do you do in-game? They continue their stretch of years between content pushes and yet people still pay and play.
I am honestly curious … what do you do to pass the time in-game?
As someone who played for years, I simply ran out of things to do and Bliz quite obviously has no concern to provide anything new. I am not being judgemental in any way. If you still take enjoyment in the game and find it worth your money, great, that is 100% up to you and no one should say other wise. But with there being years between content/story updates … what do you do?
Oh and this is one of the reasons I love subscription games. Â If devs release no content for months, I can just not pay them anything. Â They will get zero revenue from me. In F2P or even B2P games that window of me paying them still exists.
