Pokemon Go has hatched a new Valentine’s Day event for players of the ridiculously popular MMOARG. From now through February 15th,
“Players will receive double the amount of Candy when catching, hatching and transferring Pokémon, while Buddy Pokémon will find Candy twice as fast for their Trainers. In the spirit of Valentine’s Day, adorable pink Pokémon including Chansey, Clefable, Porygon, and others will have increased spawn rates. In addition, Pokémon like Cleffa, Igglybuff, and Smoochum will have a higher chance of hatching from Eggs. Trainers can also celebrate together by deploying Lure Modules that will attract Pokémon for six hours, as opposed to thirty minutes, for the duration of the event.”
Reddit is less than impressed with the event, as are some of the enthusiast press; Kotaku has already called out Niantic for a yet another “cutesy” fluff event that doesn’t actually address the game’s biggest flaws or most-requested features. We’re going to assume that’s just because Niantic is sooooo busy filling out paperwork for those park permits in Wisconsin — that’s gotta be it because the company is rolling in money and could surely afford more than fluff.
