The Repopulation wants you to talk about how you like to play

This didn't work out all right.

How do you like to play video games? Specifically, how do you like to play The Repopulation? No, you don’t have to tell us, not even down in the comments; you can tell the designers directly with a pair of new surveys asking for details about how players want to experience the game. The concept is to just start off with two surveys but regularly add more, allowing the developers a nuanced and complete picture of how people are enjoying the game and how they can continue to improve.

To start with, the surveys ask about your experience in the world of The Repopulation and your preferred playstyle; future surveys are already planned to cover things like skill gaining, PvP, and so forth. If you’ve got opinions and want to make sure you’re heard, well, this seems like an obvious way to make that happen, doesn’t it?

This is hilarious. Anybody that has played a game based on the hero engine knows that it’s not about how you like to play. Nah, it’s more about getting around the Hero Engine than because of it.

Besides, since when does IF give a shit about Repop players? LOL! All they care about is pushing their crappy engine. They will take your money and then give you whatever the fuck they want.

Up until December 20th the fourish player peak is very true. Hell, the average for the last 30 days is 9.8, check out the steam chart for 1 month.

That said, it’s not like having 52 players on at a time is anything to be bragging about anyway.

Does the graphical update include the addition of colours other than the original different shades of brown? That’s my main recollection of the game from when I first looked at it.

I like to play it in unreal engine… oh wait, that’s never going to happen. I’m fine chalking up the loss, I just feel guilty I got two friends to buy in on the idea that it was going to be SWGs successor.

Not only was it really rough before IF took over, but the suspension of development, waste of money on developing a bandwagon survival game, and hostile takeover have made any further development futile.

i think if they had delivered that awaited upon over due engine update IF promised to their partners in the program that them never delivering plus the power play for more money killed pretty much all the projects in the program putting multiple studios out of business in the process it would’ve been great.

i mean the recent engin update fixes the renderer and it looks actually good now instead of all washed out and pixelated. so they just need to deliver the rest of those promised 2 year + late updates to make the game rather playable in those terms.

i don’t think they understand josh and jc’s systems design or what needs to be done to tune them and polish them tho.

as far as fragmented or w/e it’s called goes you could see they were re developing repop through it and vry rapdily too. but the problem was that those things made for a shitty survival game and it wasn’t far enough along for a long time to appeal to those of us who already tasted repop and what it was meant to be.

There definitely were a lot of bugs and glitches that could have been solved by the engine update, but even those aside the game felt really rough. The systems in place needed a significant amount of polish and reworking, not to mention features that weren’t implemented or only barely implemented, like their version of entertainers. The map also left a lot to be desired.

Overall, it had potential even though it never felt close to launch ready. The time development was suspended was crucial time lost out on.

As for fragmented, I think everyone here knows my opinion on that debacle, so I’ll spare everyone that rant.

yeah they were gonna do thethings you point out in the beta phase iirc.
and yeah i thought fragmented was a mistake too. :(

Fragmented felt like they were playing a joke on their backers. Even the name Fragmented of the game sounded like a pun – where the pun was a cup of cold piss thrown in everyone’s faces.

Doesn’t matter the game will never come out. But it’s good to stick with it and whip Idea Fabrik into the maw of hell they slumbered out of. What a trashy company. I really hope we get some news of some top level people losing their livelihoods this year. Full fold – blacklisted from ever working in software again.

eh i got josh and jc’s reasoning with fragmented but as soon i tried it i knew it was a mistake and wasn’t going to sell for shit.

that was pretty much the exact point i wrote off the whole thing :(

at this point IF’s antics with the game is just insult to injury.

I don’t play this game so I suppose technically my comments are off-topic.

But, yeah, the way I like to play is the scenario where nobody murders me.

Since you are off-topic. Don’t you think VR news this Christmas season was exceptionally light? I thought the big guys would put some push out there but we really got nothing.

guys valve is totally making THREE VR games! because the last handful of games they leaked regularly for years came to fruition!

I wasn’t being snarky – I like Melissa’s opinions on vr and honestly would like to know if anything is coming.

>game nearly complete and was just waiting for engine fixes to go to beta 2 years ago
>2 years later: HOW DO YOU GUYS LIKE TO PLAY?

it’s like they think people don’t play because they didn’t like it as opposed to their scummy sabotage of it or something

They don’t give a shit if anyone wants to play this tripe. They wanted in on a kickstarter scam. Free money for doing nothing. Let’s see if the person trying out for CM comes in to talk about it today – I’m in need of a tale of “I just want to see it made” song and dance pile of horseshit.

they clearly think they can make money off it. the thing is no one aware of it wants to touch it because of the scum baggery of the company and the fact there’s littlerly only 4 or 5 people on at prime time in eu or na and seeing another live player is exceptionally rare.

and seems they have no clue what the vision was supposed ot be or how josh and jc’s design is supposed to do. which also requires players to work. which there are no players because IF poisoned the whole thing.

And I bet at least half, if not all, of those 4 or 5 players are members of the development team.

seems to correlate with the 4 or 5 people who post on teh forum telling people the game totally isn’t dead and that they are stupid to want a refund etc.

Speaking of their forums, I found it hilarious the mod’s avatar is someone’s attempt to dress up a skeleton. Coincidence? I think not.

It had nothing to do with a kickstarter scam. There were a lot of problems many of which stem from their engine choice. Hero Engine developers can’t even finish their own game let alone polishing their turd of an engine.

I’m going to spend time helping Idea Fabrik design their game and get some traction with players in 2018.

O-key Dokey.

it’s almost like they bought a product they don’t understand anything about beyond that there was a lot of interest in it at one point from players and now no one wants to touch it with a ten foot pole and they don’t know why somehow.
