It’s shaping up to be a big week for crafting across the MMO space, and Neverwinter is getting in on the action. PWE has announced that it’s planning on revamping its profession system, calling it a “ground-up redesign” with all-new recipes, upgraded workshops, new hireable artisans, and even a do-over for how players actually complete recipes.
Today, the studio’s penned a dev blog on the workshop element of the overhaul. “From the desk in your workshop you’ll be able to view applications from artisans,” PWE says. “Artisans will no longer be faceless, nameless icons in your inventory. Once hired they will appear in your workshop. From your worktable you will be able to place orders for recipes which they will craft even when you’re away. An instant craft command will also be available, which you may use a certain number of times per day. Further rushes will cost astral diamonds, similar to the current system.”
From there, players can assign gathering tasks to the NPCs to work while you’re away. “The system is still about managing artisans who craft goods for you, but it should be less tedious and more immersive,” PWE writes. The crafting update is expected to hit the test server later this week, so you can check it all out then.
“Many important details are still being finalized, including but not limited to: tool and artisan stats, recipe difficulty, recipe materials, XP gained from recipes, recipe costs, XP required to level, and item level of produced goods.”
