It seems like these days the only things we ever hear about Fortnite have to do with its immensely popular competitive Battle Royale mode, but Save the World — the game’s cooperative multiplayer component — is still a thing, too, and it’s got a new update coming that will introduce part two of the Canny Valley storyline, make some changes to the way mission requirements are handled, and add a new limited-time mission.
Part two of the Canny Valley storyline is the biggest feature on the list of upcoming content, and it’ll see players venturing back into the desert, where they’ll have to “get the gang back together” in preparation for the storyline’s conclusion in part three. Players can expect to get their hands on part two “sometime next month.”
In addition, the devs are making a small change to the way the game determines whether a group meets the requirements to undertake certain missions. As it stands, missions with home-base power requirements check the power of only the party leader, meaning that lower-level players might sometimes end up in over their heads. With the update, however, public missions will be changing to check the entire party’s power ratings to ensure that everyone is qualified for the selected mission.
If you just want to play with your lower-level friends, though, don’t worry: Private and friends-only games will retain the current system. And last, but not least, the devs are introducing a new time-limited mission. In a twist on the retrieve-the-data mission type, players must build defenses, gather data, and escape before the steadily encroaching storm consumes them.
