Crank up that hype machine folks because Amazon’s released its first dev diary video for its upcoming MMORPG New World, which as we learned last week is now back and due out next May. Also, they actually used the word dev diary, and I’ve really missed it. Too cute.
There’s quite a bit of in-game footage, but overall the studio isn’t dropping tons of new information, just eyecandy and ambiance and basics and read-between-the-lines goodness. As you watch, pay attention to the emphasis on the otherworldliness of the island, the focus on the magic properties of the resource underpinning the island, and the talking up of player autonomy – and PvE against the island.
Worth noting: According to Amazon’s tweet, it looks like we can expect one dev diary per month in the lead-up to launch, with “supplemental information” in between.
