Phantasy Star Online 2’s North American Xbox One beta begins tonight

It’s a happy day for MMORPG players – at least if you’ve got an Xbox One. That’s because Phantasy Star Online 2 is finally, finally, finally hitting its first test phase here in the west, specifically closed beta for Xbox One players, at 8 p.m. EST tonight.

“This will be the first opportunity for gamers to play the English version of the game, which begins its journey on the Xbox Insider Program. […] The closed beta test (CBT) will introduce North American players to the PSO2 game world with fully localized text and character voices in English. SEGA has some surprises waiting for players who participate, including special time-limited in-game Urgent Quests with rewards and a Saturday evening concert given by Quna, an idol who holds a key to the PSO2 story.”

Signups for the free beta are apparently still ongoing. The beta ends in the wee hours of Sunday morning if you’re on the East coast of the US, so set aside your Saturday.

One step closer. Hopefully the test goes overly smoothly and quickly so we can get the NA release.

I wonder if people will be allowed to stream this test. Kinda hyped for whenever the PC gets to play.

I’ll try this on Xbox One to tide me over until it comes out on PC

Forget what I said. Didn’t know you need Xbox Live Gold to play any game online

I appreciate the (seemingly) constant updates, but I reckon most of the readers here are far more interested in the progress regarding the PC release schedule of this game. I actually played the first PSO on the Dreamcast(!), so it’s not as if I’m immune to console-related information. Perhaps I’m not accounting for all the MOP people who are using an Xbox One anticipating PSO2 on that platform.
