Considering how small Standing Stone Games’ team is at the moment, the announcement that it is hiring a Dungeons and Dragons Online and Lord of the Rings Online character artist is of some interest. In fact, this is the only position that SSG has open at the moment.
Daybreak’s (SSG’s publisher) career page has this job listing for the Boston office: “Standing Stone Games is looking for a talented 3-D Character Artist to assist with production on its two MMO franchises, Lord of the Rings Online and Dungeons & Dragons Online. This role calls for an artist who is versatile at creating character related assets, as well as conceptualizing character assets and creatures, in a range of styles.”
Standing Stone’s MMORPGs have busy years ahead of them, including new races and expansions. Oh, and unicorns. Mustn’t forget the unicorns, those graceful creatures of Trapper Keeper legend!

It’s important to note that the Exec Producer said that a new hobbit race was something they would be “willing to look into” and that it has in no way, shape or form been confirmed to be happening in the near future.
Remember, this is SSG. And they have been “looking into” an LI revamp for the last 3 years or so…
Yeah but a cosmetic race they can charge in the store is more likely than fixing a broken system that they do not deem as profitable. I’ll take the bet of a river hobbit race over LI updates any day, despite the fact that I prefer they do something about LI’s..
Agreed, it’s just strange to see threads on the OF with folks acting like it’s been confirmed/done deal and that is clearly not what was recently said by the Exec Producer.
This is how I feel about this news :)
