The big anniversary event of Star Trek Online was a real crowd-pleaser, with Abraham Lincoln helping you revisit iconic missions from the game and culminating in a space battle with the most iconic characters of the franchise. If you’re curious about how all of that came to be, you can find out in a new half-hour video in which the staff behind STO discuss the process of conceptualizing and realizing the game’s 10-year anniversary event.

One of the big stated goals was, of course, to take what could easily be seen as a very silly premise (since, again, you were working with Abraham Lincoln to argue for morality against a lava monster) and make it as awesome as possible, culminating in a space fight in which it felt like the captain of each series was there alongside you. And that also included some unusual escalation, like bringing in a Borg-assimilated Iconian – which would be far too ridiculous for an ongoing threat, but was also a really fun combination of threats for a single episode. Check out the whole video below for more behind-the-scenes details.
