Torchlight III expands localization and talks up the player housing fort feature

Good news for Spanish-speaking players of Torchlight III who would prefer to play in that language, as the game’s most recent update has added in Spanish localization. But not just that localization – there’s also Russian, Chinese (Traditional), Chinese (Simplified), and Brazilian Portugese. These localizations are described as being 90% done, so players might notice some oddities here and there, but the majority of the translation is done and playable, which is what matters most in this particular case.

[AL:TL3]The update also includes changes to monster placement with regards to networking, which should address issues of rubberbanding (monsters bouncing from place to place suddenly while playing) and lead to a smoother overall experience. Add in some skill adjustments for the Forged and Sharpshooter and general quality-of-life improvements, and you should have reason to enjoy the update even if you’re not currently able to read Brazilian Portugese. (But hey, why not start learning now?)

Of course, if you’re not currently in the testing you’ll not be enjoying anything whatsoever because everyone in the world is waiting to just be able to play, but… you know, swings and roundabouts.

In other Torchlight news, PWE and Echtra put up a dev blog on forts – the closest thing the not-an-MMO-anymore will have to housing.

“Forts are your personal mark on the world. Each will truly be unique and the resources are in your hands. The interior can be customized with a wide variety of cosmetic objects. Plant a lush garden, make a monument to your success, or memorials to the thousands of Goblins that stood in your way. Build a path… or don’t! The choice is yours. Forts are instantly ready to customize when unlocked early in Act I of Torchlight III. But first, you’ll have to claim your Fort from a local Goblin tribe.”
