When sci-fi MMORPG sandbox Dual Universe launched its beta this past August, it did so with an unusual caveat: While early backers would be able to access the beta freely, folks who picked up a copy of the game after it was up would be expected to pay a small subscription fee, which may have kept out some would-be testers.
