Though Massively OP’s annual awards kick off this week, one you won’t see this year is an award for PvE. I’ve learned my lesson about a formal award for PvE simply because once we put it to a vote, all anyone really considered is combat versus mobs, which left the award down to a handful of PvM titles that were already winning other awards largely on the strength of that PvM anyway.
But in reality, PvE is way bigger than that. The E stands for environment, after all, which includes a huge range of non-player enemies and challenges: climate, terrain, atmosphere, hunger, memory, and countdown clocks. I bet you can name a bunch more too.
So let’s be nuanced here and consider more than just combat. Which MMO offered the best PvE experience in 2020?
