Tomorrow’s an exciting day for Korean MMORPG fans: Elyon, aka Ascent Infinite Realm, is finally launching in the region after several years of teasing, testing, and title-changes.
But what about those of us across the Pacific? While we knew the game was getting a global release, hard details on when and how have been scarce. The best news came from Kakao’s November quarterly report, Kakao being the signed Western publisher for the Krafton-Bluehole title: Kakao told investors that the game is slated for release in the bottom half of 2021.
This morning, Kakao began promoting the Western website for Elyon, currently just in English, which seems to signal that the companies are about to point the hype machine our way once the Korean launch is settled. Of course, as you’ll notice immediately, the website is basically a single slide with two sentences of lore, one sentence of pedigree, and two more sentences effectively describing how MMORPGs work. Of course, if you read Korean or have a translation app, you can poke around the Korean wiki and website in the meantime.
Congratulations Korea for a successful ELYON release! 👏
We are working hard to get the game to you soon! Expect ELYON to be released in the west in 2021! ❣️
