It looks as if the gold farming bots have found a particularly lucrative location in World of Warcraft: Shadowlands. During a recent livestream, WoW streamer Asmongold stumbled into some out-of-control bot activity, with nearly 50 Druids in Moonkin form circling one particular spot in Nazmir, taking out raptors presumably for gold salable items and occasional dropped pieces of BoE gear.
The bot activity moved Asmongold to create content call in assistance to fight back against the farming, summoning players to the area and attempting to submit tickets and draw GM attention to the problem in a sort of in-game protest. Other players took up the cause, sending Asmongold images of their protest groups in the same area witnessing similar botting activity.
At one point all of the Moonkin circling the raptor spawning pit suddenly disappeared all at once according to player chat due to some layering shenanigans going on. Once Asmongold worked through the layering web, he found the bots once more — specifically pointing out 207 Moonkin in the instance he found himself in. The players joining him also found a different batch of bots about 100 feet away from where the originally discovered farm was found. Eventually, nearly all of the bots stopped their train and began to disappear, indicating that they were very likely logging out after noticing that they were getting a spotlight cast upon them.
It is a bizarre and frustrating 20 minutes of video footage, whether you’re a WoW player or not, and it’s all embedded below. Just be sure to not watch at work because of some NSFW language. Because gamers on YouTube.
