The Daily Grind: Are you going to play New Blizzard’s mobile games?

Same old story, same old song and dance.

One of the big takeaways from the Activision-Blizzard investor report last week was the reminder mobile is still a cash cow for the company. In fact, one of the chief reasons the company isn’t doing even more poorly than it looks on paper is that Candy Crush and Call of Duty Mobile are performing incredibly well. Blizzard separately is working on multiple mobile games in keeping with that pattern; Diablo Immortal has been malingering in test phases for years now, and the Warcraft mobile game that’s been teased repeatedly was confirmed in the report as well.

This is not a new thing, mind you. Activision-Blizzard has been pivoting to mobile for a long time. Heck, the King acquisition itself six years ago was a pivot to mobile. But Blizzard itself is only finally just joining in. And it always makes me wonder about the intended future audience of the company.

Are you excited for Blizzard’s mobile games? Are you planning to play Diablo Immortal or the Warcraft mobile game, whatever it turns out to be?
