The Daily Grind: Should all MMORPGs include guild recruitment boards?

As someone who has made a hobby out of jumping around MMORPGs like Frogger, I’ve spent more time looking for guilds than I would care to admit. It’s a priority to plug into the social scene and find a warm and welcoming group, but many MMOs make it difficult for the guild shopper. I mean, I don’t want to rely on global chat recruitment spam — do you?

That’s why I greatly prefer MMOs that at least make some sort of attempt at including guild finders and guild recruitment boards. There are ones that are far more functional (and searchable) than others, but even having a bare-bones one is better than relying on external forums and subreddits.

Or maybe that’s just me? Should guild finders be a standard MMO feature, or is it a nicety that isn’t that needed these days? Where do you land on this issue?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
