A few weeks back, we teased a certain new MMO for launching on a weekend, but in reality, when an MMO launches (or launches its updates) depends on a bunch of factors. If it’s a AAA title, studios often want to launch early on in the week so that any kinks can be worked out before the weekend rush descends; nobody really wants to have to keep all hands on deck through the weekend if possible. If it’s an indie title, however, launching on a weekend could make more sense, especially if the folks working on the game aren’t necessarily doing so as their day job.
Pretend for a sec you’re a marketing strategist for an MMO with a launch coming up. What would you says the best day of the week to launch the game or update?
