The Daily Grind: Which MMO studio had the best dev communication in 2023?

Later this month, we’ll be dishing out our awards, including our award for best MMO studio. But I know as well as anyone that the winner isn’t always perfect, and sometimes smaller studios stand out in one specific area even if they don’t take the crown. That’s what today’s Daily Grind is all about: highlighting a specific MMO studio for its top-notch comms for the year, even if the game isn’t to taste.

Personally, I want to give the nod to Albion Online’s Sandbox Interactive and New World’s Amazon Games, both of which put out consistent and thorough updates in both text and video all year. As far as my job is concerned, comms aren’t just about uptime and tweets but about being able to figure out what the heck is going on with a game in exhaustive detail from official sources pretty much the instant I go looking for it, and both of those teams deliver that for me. The bar has been raised.

Which MMO studio would you argue had the best dev communication in 2023?

At the turn of every calendar year, the MassivelyOP team assembles a traditional feast of annual content for your table. We recap the year, issue awards, highlight our favorite (and least favorite) stories, and gather your opinions together to send off the last year and welcome the new one. Grab a plate and take a bite out of this year-end Daily Grind!
