Wayfinder’s been fairly quiet over the holidays since the stealth-launch of its last patch, but as it turns out, that’s because the devs have been busy on Discord. In fact, this past Saturday the studio’s AJ “SOLIDAge” LaSaracina sat for an AMA on the chat platform that dropped some notable bits of info for the game. Here are the highlights:

  • Expect the January-through-March roadmap soon. “[T]here is still lots of stuff coming over the next 3 months.”
  • The next update won’t include the planned new large social area. Airship is also working on a new “massive” overland zone.
  • There is a new weapon underway; it’s not “punchy weapons.”
  • There are “some new systems coming online that will have cosmetics.”
  • Drop rate changes are on the table.
  • The “end goal” for the new seasons stand-in is to have a regular cadence for releases, with a “job” system for weekly/daily content. They won’t commit to a cadence yet.
  • The team does not agree that most weapon are bad, but there’s a balance pass coming.
  • Airship is aiming to increase housing decor limits incrementaly with neighborhoods in mind.
  • Major performance upgrades thanks to cooperation with Epic are en route.
  • “The next evolution of pets is in Skylight.”
  • Work on mass echo matrix crafting is happening.
  • “We have some design ideas for mount progression” – but it won’t be ready soon.
  • “We don’t plan on locking any critical things like vestiges or parts behind Mythics or Raids,” the team says, but raids will be super hard: “[I]f you walk into these without the proper comp you won’t be successful.”
  • “Masteries will be replaced totally in the coming weeks with the archetype system.”
