PSA: Valheim’s Discord and two Iron Gate Discord accounts have apparently been hacked

Bad news bears for survival sandbox Valheim tonight, as apparently hackers have taken over the game’s Discord – as well as some of the developers’ own accounts.

Just after 4 p.m. EST, Iron Gate’s Jens Hellström tweeted, “Our official discord server is under attack. Don’t click any links, don’t click any files etc etc. […] They got both mine and Grimmcores personal discord. We have both made tickets to recover our accounts, but it’s in discords hands atm.”

YouTube Kysen has a solid report up on the situation, noting that current searches for Valheim’s Discord lead to a new server stuffed with malicious links and downloads. When I snooped around in there (you know, for science), I saw people trying to sneak through obviously unsafe links as well as a barrage of racist edgelord stuff just to cap it off. Needless to say, we can’t recommend that.

Valheim’s official Twitter account hasn’t acknowledged the hack, which could be because more than the Discord was hacked. (The vanity link to the Discord is pointing to the scam server now, too.)

The Valheim Reddit was also shut down temporarily, though it’s back now and funneling all hack-related content into a single megathread. Players in that thread have identified at least one of the dodgy downloads as a specific form of Epsilon Stealer malware.

Either way, consider this a giant blinking PSA to stay away from Valheim-related stuff until the devs have it back under control.
