Fractured Online’s latest update boosts soloers and grants free respecs ahead of F2P weekend

Dynamight Studios is all about the free this weekend: We’ve previously noted that the studio is setting its Kickstarted sandbox MMORPG Fractured Online free-to-play from tomorrow to Monday next week, alongside various pack sales. But existing players are getting some free too in the form of free respecs.

The news comes in the game’s latest early access patch notes, as Dynamight’s Jacopo Gallelli declares “no 24h timer for one week” in regard to character respecs. The patch also buffs the number of orbs from divine rewards, specifically to aid solo players.

“It is clear to us we’ve swung too much in the direction of rewarding only group content with EGC,” the studio says. “[The new drop chance] means you’re 3 times more likely to find an Orb now when farming CR7-9 mobs (CR8-9 in particular)! If you’re wondering why Legendary has gone up so much, that’s because Summonable and Ultimate legends no longer drop orbs directly, but now give more Legendary rewards, and that’s where you find the Orbs – roughly as many as before (ON AVERAGE) for Ultimate legends, a bit less than before for Summonable. Also, Wandering (Event) legends now always drop 1 Divine Reward, the type depending on the power of the Legend!”

Do note that free-play accounts for the weekend come with some restrictions; they can claim land parcels but not pay them (so they’ll expire), they can’t create or join settler groups, and while they can join player cities, they won’t be included in derank counts. “The same system will be extended to all refunded accounts and land parcels owned by refunded accounts. Properly fixing the latter for refunded accounts will be done in a future patch, since it requires another couple steps,” the patch notes clarify. “Moreover, players who purchased the game on Steam can no longer login from the Standalone client.”
