Bellwright’s first week of early access sees daily bug fixing and mostly positive reviews

It would appear that Donkey Crew knows it has eyes trained on it after its last shoulder shrug of an early access game launch: The co-op medieval survival sandbox of Bellwright, which went into early access last week, has been extremely busy over the past few days as it put forth bugfix patches every single day.

As one might expect, many of the fixes are pretty specific, addressing crashes, item interactions, stamina, deer awareness, and other such granular matters. The studio also put out an update related to GPU crashes, promising that some fixes would be coming soon to manage the wider problems. The daily patching appears to be continuing, as another bug fix went out this morning.

Despite all of the bugs — or perhaps as a result of the studio’s efforts to squash them — Bellwright is currently enjoying a “Mostly Positive” review score on Steam, with many players showing appreciation for some deep game systems, a “slow but rewarding grind,” and the fun players are having with friends along the way. The game’s general Discord chatter and subreddit all appear to be pretty lively, and player numbers are pretty respectable at the moment.
