When is a Bard class not just a Bard class? When that Bard is a singing, ambulatory cat. Say hello to Thomas, the latest character revealed by the pixel-art MMOARPG Drakantos and the headline of the game’s May update post.
As one might expect, Thomas is a magical caster that uses the power of music to help friends and harm foes, though some of his skills appear to be unique from the typical archetype, including a spell that draws enemy aggro, a sleep ability, and some other disruptive AoE abilities. A primary part of his kit is the Resonance spell, which gets stronger when players match the colored notes that appear on-screen.
The May dev blog also features an additional gameplay video from within the Cultists Domain, a high-level challenging dungeon that features multiple random events such as minibosses appearing in an elevator that even the developers had trouble surviving.
Other features of note in the update post include work on a giant hydra boss fight, additional new quests from the Adventurers Guild, some new puppy pet friends, and a look at two new monsters in the form of a mimic and a treasure-filled gnome.
