PvPvE medieval extraction RPG Dungeonborne begins its free-to-play Steam early access

Last week we cast our eyes to Dungeonborne, a first-person multiplayer PvPvE extraction RPG that lets solo players or teams band together to delve dungeons, gather goodies, and get out alive without running afoul of monsters and other players. At the time of our report, we noted an upcoming Steam early access release, so consider this a reminder that early access has indeed begun this week as scheduled.

A post from developer Mithril Interactive not only heralds the milestone but also outlines update plans for July and August, which include the ability to select skills, a higher difficulty, a new game mode that promises “unique gameplay and exclusive rewards,” and continued expansion of skill options for the game’s classes. Early access is slated to run for as long as six months depending on player feedback, while both its early access and its later final release are free-to-play.

So far the game has gotten some love from gamers, with a “very positive” user review score and a little over 23K players so far at time of writing. Most of the user reviews make some obvious comparisons to Dark and Darker, with most calling Dungeonborne a better attempt at this kind of game.
