Pantheon Rise of the Fallen shares what will and will not be in early access launch, elaborates on server wipe strategy

The end of this year is promising to be a pivotal one for Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen, with the PvE sandbox headed into early access in December. And while developer Visionary Realms has already published an FAQ, that didn’t mean that players had all of their questions answered, which leads us to the MMORPG’s latest Q&A video.

The podcast video touched on a sizeable list of details for what will and will not be in Pantheon’s early access. Things that will be at EA launch include:

  • A level cap of 40 with commensurate class progress and abilities
  • Reputation systems
  • Improvements to XP gain
  • Tweaks to quests and visuals
  • More of the perception system
  • A death penalty
  • The promise of new and updated gear, albeit with some new scarcity

As for what won’t be in EA, that will include masteries, which will be “a post-EA thing;” the Gnome race, which is being delayed; housing, which is still being iterated on; underwater content, which is “almost certainly” post-EA, though there will be some surface swimming at least.

The devs also discussed the hot topic of periodic wipes. Here they stress that early access is not being considered a soft launch, though they also point out that they’ve managed to perform fewer wipes in seasonal tests so far. Ultimately the team isn’t sure how frequent wipes will happen but they promise to be more “utilitarian” and “most beneficial” for testing purposes. Visionary Realms is also looking at alternatives down the board like dedicated “fresh start” servers for testing purposes. Of course, there will be a wipe before early access, but that was already confirmed by the studio.
