Following both excitement and criticism over the announcement and pre-order packages this week for Lord of the Rings Online: Legacy of Morgoth, SSG Executive Producer Rob Ciccolini announced on the forums that the editions would be improved while defending why the expansion doesn’t have a “special system” like many others.
Ciccolini acknowledged that it was a mistake not to include — as SSG has often done in the past — level boosts with the pricier expansion editions. In response, the studio is preparing to deliver level 150 boost packages to all purchases (one per account), with Ultimate Edition holders receiving two such packages.
Other announcements included refining the portrait frame and fixing the milestone and movement animations.
Ciccolini also explained why Legacy of Morgoth doesn’t have a signature feature, saying that the studio is “on the cusp” of a massive non-monetized Elf avatar update. “We are hard at work on the content. Some of the team has been working on it for almost a year. We are excited to share it with you, and we believe it will offer great storytelling and value,” he said.
For more expansion chatter, lead designer Orion sat down for an interview that covered the new bauble collection panel, the exploration reputation system, upcoming nerfs to Lore-masters, VIP reputation boosts, and the three instances coming with the November launch:
And finally, Senior World Designer Matt Elliot took players on a tour through Legacy of Morgoth’s Urash Dâr zone in this week’s preview stream:
