Dune: Awakening has put forth another monthly newsletter – its second one since the initiative started in August even if this one leaped over September and went into October instead – and it’s brought a small bundle of tidbits for curious players to chew on at the very, very, very bottom of the whole thing.
Scrolling past the reams and reams of paragraphs that continue to excitedly talk about Gamescom 2024, we can see there’s a Q&A section that has a couple of useful takeaways:
- The very first question once again talks about the separation of PvP and PvE activities, noting how PvE-minded players can simply stay in the starting region of Hagga Basin and “enjoy all that the social hubs have to offer.”
- Post-launch, Funcom promises to iterate on player feedback but also promises “more surprises” for the Deep Desert FFA PvP area and “all the secrets it will unveil weekly.”
- Resources for crafting and building are confirmed to draw from both inventory and storage, thank goodness.
- A console release is coming much later by the sound of it. “[W]e are focusing primarily on PC release,” the studio confirms.
- Melee combat appears to be the next “pillar” of the combined arms that make up the survivalbox’s combat stew. The build at Gamescom was the most recent iteration based on beta tester feedback, while efforts to improve animation, timing, balance, and visual polish will continue. This focus is helped by the fact that Funcom believes ranged and vehicle combat is in a good spot.
