Yesterday marked both a new ship’s arrival and the final battle for Earth in Elite: Dangerous, as the spaceships sandbox’s latest patch has officially launched the Cobra Mk V ship and added a new community goal to combat the last remaining Thargoid Titan.
The patch itself is generally about the new ship, adding it to the game’s cash shop for early access in the usual two variants – standard and pre-built stellar – at a cost of 16,520 Arx and 33,000 Arx respectively. As Frontier Developments has outlined previously, this new ship is an all-rounder, with a wide assortment of fitting spaces to let players effectively make a jack-of-all-trades spacecraft.
The new patch has also made a couple of adjustments including a significant increase in module storage for all ships from 200 to 600, the ability for all shipyards to stock an additional craft, and a small list of bug fixes.
The other major development for E:D is this week’s community goal, which tasks players with taking down Titan Cocijo as it threatens the Sol system. Rewards for those who participate include the usual credits and Arx handouts based on contribution level, while all players who provide at least one contribution to the effort will receive frame shift drives pre-engineered with supercruise overdrive functionality in all classes.
