While fans of Monster Hunter Wilds already have an idea of what’s coming to the co-op action RPG starting on April 4th, game director Yuya Tokuda is promising even more updates on the road ahead that look to apply balance, bring back some missing features, and improve gameplay overall.
The post opens up by confirming that there will be more tempered monsters appearing in an update at the end of May, which Tokuda says have had “various behind-the-scenes adjustments to make them more resilient, such as increased health, resistance to wounding, and tweaks to multiplayer scaling.” Future updates also promise to keep the harder hunts coming.
The next portion of the post discusses balance adjustments. Fans aren’t given any timelines here, but this portion does specifically call out a buff to the hammer weapon’s damage and some nerfing for the “overtuned” corrupted mantle item, while other mantle items will be tuned upward in order to make them more viable.
Multiple quality-of-life improvements are being promised in the future, the first of which will be available at the upcoming Grand Hub multiplayer location that will make several functions easier to get to. Later updates promise improved camera views for certain hunts, UI improvements, clearer skill details, and easier restocking of items, as well as the return of layered weapons for all you fashion hunters out there. The post also states Capcom’s intent to “take a wider look at overall gameplay flow, which encompasses a range of things, such as the in-game economy, balance and other areas,” though specifics aren’t provided on what that ultimately means.
Finally of major note is a pair of targeted performance updates for the PC version that lower VRAM usage and upgrade the Direct Storage version, both of which will come with the April 4th patch. Tokuda also assures fans that game stability will continue to be a focus, particularly for PC players, while also pointing out that those efforts are an ongoing process.
All of these forward-looking update plans come as Capcom celebrates over 10 million copies of Wilds sold in the first month of its release. In celebration of the sales milestone, players will be handed a free item pack sometime in the near future.
