It’s been a trying week or so for NCsoft’s games, as the MMORPG giant’s been dealing with several severe DDoS attacks upon its infrastructure and titles. While the company is offering compensation to those who found themselves unable to enjoy their games fully, NCsoft also said that it’s dedicated to slugging it out with the criminals attacking its services.

NC America CEO Jeonghee Jin assured players that the studio is doing all it can, saying, “Over the past couple of weeks, two of NC America’s tentpole games, Blade & Soul NEO and Lineage II, have suffered from very severe DDoS (Distributed Denial-of-Service) attacks, the largest our company has ever seen. These attacks are a form of individual/corporate espionage. They’ve been relentless and destructive. Each time we identify and squash an attack, the anonymous party changes its attack patterns, and we start over again.”

Jin acknowledged that these DDoS attacks have struck other studios as well and vowed to “work around the clock” to mitigate the attacks and provide more security. “This is a crime and we’re taking the situation very seriously,” he said.
