Anvil Empires highlights several updates to avatar, clothing, and gear in latest dev blog

It’s been a very quiet several months in terms of comms for Anvil Empires, the medieval-themed persistent war MMO by Foxhole developer Siege Camp. As a matter of fact, there hasn’t been much out of the game’s development since our last peek to the point that new word of developments haven’t been shared until last February, when Siege Camp showed off a bunch of avatar-specific updates.

The post highlights how new NPC avatars that randomly generate for players to control will now have a wide assortment of hairstyles, skin tones, and body shapes. These choices for controllable avatars can be tweaked a little bit by setting specified preferences, but by and large new characters should look pretty different from one another. This also suggests that player characters will be dying. A lot.

For more permanent characters (aka named avatars), there are some new gear slots that they can equip, along with two spaces for new clothing pieces (body and legs), a number of new armor sets, and the new tier of superior weapons like a new spear, sword, and shield, all of which require crafting materials gathered from deep within the in-game underworld.

Speaking of the underworld area, that’s been expanded too, with new resources, a second deeper level of the area, and new threats to face like new animals. Unfortunately what we don’t have yet is when any of this will be testable or playable, but Siege Camp is continuing its work. Slowly.
