Path of Exile promises a new metagame and ‘risk vs. reward’ in its upcoming expansion

The next expansion for Path of Exile isn’t due to arrive until December, but that hasn’t stopped the folks of Grinding Gear Games to try and stir the pot a little bit. A forum post has hinted at just what 3.9.0 of the MMOARPG will provide, making promises that the new League will change its endgame and metagame both.

According to the post, this new expansion is possible only thanks to some advances in tech and resources. Details are sparse, of course, but the post promises the expansion will bring “a good balance of risk vs reward” and “compelling endgame content” while being “a whole lot less server-melty.” The new expansion will also look to shake up the metagame with new build options, as well as pay some special attention to bows.

Overall, the post promises 3.9.0 will be one of the largest updates Path of Exile has seen this year. Expect to get more details during the ExileCon keynote, which will be livestreamed at 4:00 p.m. EDT on Friday, November 15th, or you can stay tuned here as our own Wandering Wraeclast columnist MJ will be at ExileCon herself with reports direct from the event.
